Sri Hari and Meena’s ‘Dasanna’ has been released on a low profile base. But can film score big albeit released on near to the ground activity? Let’s find out!

Banner: Visakha Takies
Casting: Sri Hari, Meena, Suman, Posani, AVS, Chandra Mohan, Raja Ravindra
Director: DSP
Producer: Natti Kumar
Music Director: M M Sreelekha

Story:

‘Dasanna’ is the story of a Zamindar and his trusted believer Das.

Raghuvaran is a wicked Village Zamindar and crazy about women. Das (Sri Hari) is his adherent follower and believes that his master can never go wrong. One day, Meena’s brother Suman proposes a marriage between Meena and Sri Hari, without the latter’s knowledge. And then Meena starts dreaming about Sri Hari. But on the flip side, Raghuvaran spots Meena in a carnival and determines to bed her. Can Sri Hari rescue Meena? How did he took the task to Raghuvaran forms the rest of the story.

Analysis:

Boy! This is a passé script, both conceptually and technically. The plot is an old one. The director could convince the producer for investing in the film, but he failed to convince the audience. Director DSP could not do justice and did not handle the characters according to the script, which is hamming.

I thought the first half is bearable, but not completely. Few scenes between Meena and her family are hard to imagine. I just got the feeling that I was watching a TV Serial because of the bygone era of camera work. May be it’s a budget problem. The dialogues of Posani Krishna Murali are accidentally funny. The background music was just a formality with no life and plunge and the second half went awfully wrong.

Performance:

Well! As for performance, Raghuvaran, Sri Hari and Meena did reasonably well (only in the second half), since they are seasoned campaigners. It’s good to see Sri Hair having the same command over his voice and performance, despite ageing. His dialogues are really historic and his body language is natural with broad shoulders. Meena is adequate, but again, her pretence is not natural. May be due to these reasons, the film ‘Dasanna’ has not been released all this while. The director needs to think beyond his age band and form a script that caters to the next generation.
